Woman who won $1 million on scratcher at Merced store named

MERCED, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A woman in Merced is substantially richer after winning $1 million on a Power 10’s Scratchers game purchased at a Save Mart in Merced.

The California Lottery says Annette Lopez did not let her hopes and dreams be crushed.

“People would always say, I don’t know why you keep playing. You’re not going to win anything,’” Lopez told the California Lottery.

Lopez said she was on a special shopping trip at the Save Mart when she purchased the Power 10’s Scratcher in May.

“It was special because not only was it my sister’s birthday, but it was also Mother’s Day weekend. I went to the store to get stuff for Mother’s Day and decided to play,” Lopez said. “At first, I wasn’t sure I won. I had to get my glasses. When I looked at it again, I started tripping out. It was the best Mother’s Day!”

Lopez said she still gets emotional talking about it because the huge prize she won on a $10 investment has helped change her life.

The California Lottery adds that people who teased Anette Lopez are not so vocal anymore.
