MADERA COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Fairmead Elementary School in Madera County was briefly placed on lockdown Monday after a wanted suspect was spotted near the campus, Madera County deputies say.

According to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, a subject with a felony warrant ran from officials near Fairmead Elementary School on Monday. Out of caution, officials say the school was placed on a brief lockdown.

After a thorough sweep of the campus, deputies determined the school to be safe and officials lifted the lockdown.

Law enforcement says they will patrol the area as they continue to search for the subject.
