Santa Barbara County, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Two people were injured Wednesday morning after what officials call an “intentionally set” explosion at the Santa Maria Courthouse, according to the Santa Barbara County Office.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the courthouse at around 8:45 a.m. for reports of an explosion.

The Sheriff’s Office says the explosion was from an “intentionally set improvised explosive device.”

One man was detained and two people were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of those involved have not been officially released.

The Governor’s Office and the state’s Office of Emergency Services are both said to be monitoring the explosion at the Santa Maria Courthouse and working with law enforcement.

The County of Santa Barbara has posted on the court’s website that the Santa Maria campus is closed for the day “and all calendars have been canceled.”

In a further update on Wednesday, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office reports that the investigation is slow-moving, but it is not believed that there are any other suspects involved.
