HURON, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A puppy was rescued from a sidewalk sewage drain in Huron after quick thinking and teamwork from the Huron Police Department, officers announced on Thursday.

After covering up his calves with plastic bags, one of the officers jumped into the sewage drain and pulled out the puppy who was covered from head to toe in grey muck.

The puppy was alert upon being rescued and officers say she is expected to make a full recovery.

According to officials, the puppy was rescued with the help of Huron Police Department’s Commander Fuentes, Sergeant Paul Lopez, and Officer Gonzalez.
