HANFORD, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old have been arrested after shooting a home in Hanford on Sept. 28, the Hanford Police Department said.

Officers say they were dispatched on Sept. 28 to the 1400 block of Echo Lane in Hanford regarding a home that had just been shot at, but nobody was struck.

Upon arrival, police say they learned the suspects had fled the scene on foot. Once they learned the suspects’ descriptions, they began to check the area and located them a few blocks away.

The two suspects, who the Police Department identified as 17-year-old and 14-year-old males, fled on foot from the officers and into the backyard of a home. The officers then established a perimeter around the area and called for additional resources, including a K-9 from the Lemoore Police Department and a fixed-wing aircraft from the Fresno area office of the California Highway Patrol.

Investigators say they located a handgun in the direction the suspects had fled on foot. After multiple announcements, the suspects surrendered to officers and were arrested without incident.

Police say they also found an additional handgun and clothing matching the description of the shooters. Both handguns were loaded and were unserialized privately-made firearms. One of the teenagers appeared to have received a ricochet wound to his face, the result of firing rounds at the occupied home.

According to detectives, both teenagers were transported to the Kings County Juvenile Center, where they were booked under suspicion of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of live ammunition by a minor, and resisting/obstructing an officer.
