KERN COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Two Fresno residents were killed in a solo-vehicle crash on Saturday on Interstate 5 in Kern County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP says on Oct. 5 at approximately 12:25 p.m., the Bakersfield Communications Center received a call of a crash on northbound Interstate 5, north of the Lebec Service Road outside the community of Lebec.

According to CHP, a 2016 Hyundai left the roadway to the east, overturned, and landed on its roof. Officers say a 70-year-old woman was pronounced dead on the scene, and three occupants were flown to local hospitals. CHP says a 67-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the local hospital.

Two of the people in the car continue to recover in the hospital, according to CHP. Officials have not released the identities of the victims.

CHP says it is unknown if alcohol and or drugs were a factor in this crash.
