MERCED COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Lanes on Highway 99 in Merced County were blocked due to a vehicle losing its load of sweet potatoes, the California Highway Patrol said on Tuesday afternoon.

CHP Merced posted on social media around 4:20 p.m. that, due to a traffic collision occurring on Highway 99 southbound near Winton Parkway, all lanes were blocked.

According to CHP, one of the involved vehicles lost its load of sweet potatoes, blocking all the lanes.

Crews actively worked to clear the roadway. At around 6:20 p.m. CHP said that all lanes had reopened.
