PORTERVILLE, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A Porterville man was arrested after officers say they found him driving high and in possession of methamphetamine.

According to Porterville Police, they pulled over a vehicle on Morton Avenue near Indiana Street on Saturday around 9:45 p.m.

Officers say the driver, 43-year-old Porterville resident Juan Rodriguez Torres, was exhibiting objective symptoms of drug use. After administering field sobriety tests, the officer determined that Torres was under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested him.

During a search, officers say they found Torres to be in possession of 28.7 grams of methamphetamine.

According to police, Torres was booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office South County Detention Facility on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine for sale, and transportation of methamphetamine for sale.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Porterville Police Department at 559-782-7400, or through their departmental Facebook or Instagram page.
