Man arrested after child molestation at Big Fresno Fair, police say

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A 53-year-old man was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of child molestation following an incident that took place at the Big Fresno Fair, according to the Fresno Police Department.

Officers say 53-year-old Miguel Angel Guzman-Castro was arrested on Sunday at around 9:15 p.m. on suspicion of felony lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14. Arrest records show the incident took place at around 7:10 p.m. while the Big Fresno Fair was operating.

According to the Fresno Police Department, officers were contacted by the victim’s family member. Officials confirmed that the incident took place at the fairgrounds — but could not detail where in the fairgrounds it happened.

The suspect, 53-year-old Miguel Angel Guzman-Castro, was not known to the Fresno Police Department before the incident and was not a worker at the Big Fresno Fair, officers say. Officers add that the suspect and the victim did not know each other.

In a statement, the Big Fresno Fair wrote that the health and safety of visitors is a top priority.

Records from Fresno County Jail show that 53-year-old Miguel Angel Guzman-Castro was booked into the jail on Sunday at around 11:20 p.m. and released on bond on Monday at 10:35 a.m. According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect lives in Fresno.
