TULARE COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A vehicle engulfed in flames Tuesday was extinguished along a major highway in Tulare County, the Tulare County Fire Department announced.

Firefighters report they responded to northbound Highway 99 just south of the Avenue 280 exit for a report of a vehicle on fire.

Upon arrival, responding crews reported a commercial utility truck fully engulfed in flames.

Though firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, they report the vehicle was completely destroyed. It is unknown if anyone was inside the vehicle during the incident.

The department adds incidents on Highway 99 are some of the more dangerous calls for emergency responders. If emergency lights are one, slow down and move over.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
