FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A person has been pronounced dead following a multi-vehicle crash in Fresno County, the California Highway Patrol said.

CHP says they responded to a fatal traffic collision in the area of Hills Valley Road, north of Manning Avenue in Fresno County at 4:15 p.m.

Officers say, according to witnesses, a Toyota was traveling northbound passing other traffic. For unknown reasons, a GMC Sierra traveling southbound swerved to avoid the passing vehicle. The Toyota then lost control and was hit by a Dodge that was traveling northbound.

As a result, detectives say the driver of the Toyota, a 22-year-old woman, did not survive the crash. The other parties involved in the crash suffered from moderate injuries. The driver of the Dodge was transported to a local hospital for moderate injuries.

As of Wednesday, it is unknown if any alcohol and/or drugs had to do with this incident.

    This is an ongoing investigation.
