FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A man is dead after being hit twice by two different vehicles in Fresno on Wednesday night, the Fresno Police Department said.

Officers responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Villa and Olive Avenues in Fresno on Wednesday around 8:10 p.m.

Police say a driver was traveling westbound on Olive Avenue at Villa Avenue when they struck an unhoused man in his 20s. Police say the man was carrying several items and was blocking the roadway in a dark area.

According to the Police Department, the driver pulled over and stayed on scene when a secondary vehicle hit the pedestrian as well. The second vehicle, believed to be a mid-sized sedan, fled the scene.

The Fresno Police Department says no alcohol and/or drugs are being suspected in this case. This is an ongoing investigation.
