TULARE COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A deputy with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office was involved in what officials say was a “major traffic accident” near Orosi on Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, the unidentified deputy crashed near the area of Avenue 412 and Road 136 which is around two miles east of Orosi. Both the deputy and the driver of the other vehicle involved were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Pictures from the scene show a power pole on the ground at the scene of the crash.

The circumstances of the crash were not released by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation into the incident is being managed by the California Highway Patrol.

I had a sheriff deputy fly around the corner of my neighborhood while I had checked and cleared the area to back out of the drive way. He was so shaken because he nearly crashed into me going 45 to 50, he pulled me over at not even had a chance to get to 15. After discussing the situation and a realization that I was the only one paying attention I was able to drive off. I whole heartedly suggested he slow down before something seriously happened. A friend i told about it knew him very well and stated the same concern. The next day or 2 he had died losing control of the vehicle taking a corner at a high rate of speed. It was sad and very disturbing to hear.
