HANFORD, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – An 18-year-old was arrested Wednesday in connection with a robbery and child endangerment in Hanford, the city’s police department said.

Police say that at 1:56 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Stratford Way about a robbery that had just taken place. Three middle school juveniles, police say, were walking home from school when a red Cadillac Escalade, driven by 18-year-old Angel Camerena, approached them.

According to police, a group got out of the vehicle and forcibly took the victims’ belongings – before fleeing in the same vehicle. Officers say they quickly located the Cadillac Escalade near Cortner Avenue and 11th Avenue and stopped the vehicle.

According to police, Camarena, along with five others aged 13 to 17, were inside the car. The investigation revealed that three of the juveniles and Camarena had participated in the robbery, according to police.

Police say the victims’ property was recovered and returned to them. Camarena was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of charges of child endangerment and accessory to robbery.

The three juveniles involved were booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center on suspicion of robbery, according to police.
