An improvement project for an intersection in Edinboro reached it’s final stage.

Construction will soon begin at the intersection of Plum and Erie Street to place new concrete crosswalks.

Final construction for Edinboro Intersection Project set to start

According to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), motorists may encounter both short and long tern lane closures controlled by flaggers.

The project originally began last year to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow.

“A couple of years ago we had, throughout downtown on Route 99, similar crosswalks. So matching crosswalks will be installed through PennDOT,” said Jason Spangenberg, borough manager. “Pedestrian crossing are important since not only is it an intersection of two state highways, but it is a part of our downtown so we have a lot of people walking around. So we’re certainly happy to get this project wrapped up.”

The project is currently expected to be completed this May.
