MINNEAPOLIS ( WJET/WFXP ) — In a press release , General Mills announced that it would be selling its North American Yogurt business, which includes well-known brands like Yoplait, Liberté, Go-Gurt, Oui, Mountain High, and :ratio.

Along with the brands, the sale will also include General Mills’ manufacturing facilities in Tennessee, Michigan and Québec. General Mills plans to sell its North American Yogurt business to Lactalis and Sodiaal, both leading French dairy companies.

The current plan has Lactalis taking over the American business and Sodiaal taking over the Canadian business. The sale is valued at $2.1 billion and is expected to close in 2025.

According to General Mills, their North American Yogurt business contributed around $1.5 billion to General Mills’ fiscal 2024 net sales.

“Today’s announcement represents another significant step forward for General Mills in advancing our Accelerate strategy and our portfolio reshaping ambitions,” said General Mills Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Harmening.

General Mills says that it will provide additional details about the possible financial impact of the deal during its first-quarter results meeting on September 18, 2024.
