ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been selected as AFC player of the week for the 13th time in seven seasons, more than any of his NFL peers during that span.

Allen was recognized after leading the Bills in a 47-10 win against the Jaguars on Monday night at Highmark Stadium. Boosting Buffalo’s record to 3-0 to start the season, Allen became the first NFL quarterback to ever complete more than 75% of his passes, throw four touchdowns, have no turnovers or sacks taken, and lead his team in rushing yards all in the same game.

“I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll keep saying it — he’s a freak of nature,” receiver Khalil Shakir said. “He’s putting the ball to where only we can make the play on it. So, freak of nature, dog, all those things.”

John Murphy: Anyone still think Josh Allen is ‘overrated’? MVP would be better moniker

Allen’s 13 player of the week awards are a team record, and the third-most of any NFL player, after quarterback Aaron Rodgers (27), playing in his 20th NFL season, and 18th-year kicker Matt Prater (19).

The Bills have had an AFC player of the week after each game this season. Running back James Cook was lauded last week, and defensive edge rusher Greg Rousseau was recognized after the season opener.
