(WJET/WFXP/ YourErie.com ) — Presque Isle played host on Sunday, Sept. 29 to Erie’s walk to end hunger.

The 49th annual Erie County Crop Hunger Walk was held at the state park. It raises funds to address hunger issues locally and worldwide.

Organizers hoped for 300 or 400 participants… Representing 45 to 50 groups. Even 49 years into the journey, the event still gathers a strong crowd.

“Obviously, there is still lots of hungry people out there and soup kitchens and food pantries are all busier than ever. So the needs still exist,” said Jim Haas, coordinator of the Erie County Crop Hunger Walk. “And I think the folks who come out to this really like working together as a community.”
