ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – Work was paused at the new Buffalo Bills stadium site this week while the construction company investigated a report that a potential hate symbol was found on the premises.

Gilbane | Turner, the company selected to provide construction management services for the project, said it immediately reported the incident to the police, suspended work at the Orchard Park construction site, and launched an investigation “to send a clear message about how seriously we take this matter. We do not tolerate any act of bias or hate.”

Gilbane | Turner said an initial investigation found that it was not a symbol of hate. A live feed from the construction site did not appear to show any workers on the site as of Wednesday afternoon.

The new stadium, located across the street from the team’s current facility, is expected to be completed in time for the 2026 NFL season.

“Gilbane | Turner maintains zero tolerance for racism and hate. We will continue to collaborate with our trade partners and unions to make it clear to every person on site the importance of having a work environment where all people feel welcomed, respected, and safe,” the company said in a statement.
