Lake Effect Chills and Dampness giving way to a sunny, dry warming stretch

The potpourri of weather that comes when the Canadian blows across or lake is a rite of passage it seems starting every October. Lake Effect doesn’t always means snow, but there are hints of it, like the picture of this small hail or graupel (snow pellets) from McKean Tuesday morning.

Then there are the waterspouts that are very common here in October, as well as breaks of sun (Edinboro) and even rain showers and dew on the evergreen needles (North Warren).

Unfortunately, the damp, cold air does contribute to the pain that some folks feel in their bones (Rheumatoid issues) and changing air pressure is thought to be a trigger for some migraine sufferers. The good news is that all of this comes to an and goes away for several days, maybe well into next week.

After one more day in the clouds, drops, chills and sometimes flakes, high pressure will nose in Thursday and clear the skies and start a warm-up. And fortunately, as it shows on the map, the air will be coming from the south (red streamers) so the warm-up will continue into the weekend and beyond with highs approaching and maybe even exceeding 70.

So hang on, help is on the way and thankfully it will stay for a while.
