Smiles bloom as local florist hands out free bouquets for Petal It Forward Day

You don’t have to spend a fortune on flowers to make a difference.

To celebrate National Petal It Forward Day, a local florist is bringing a little color to into people’s lives.

On Wednesday at Floral Expressions, employees were out and about in Wesleyville distributing 175 bouquets to random people for free.

The only “price” they ask is that those who receive them in turn do something nice for someone else.

The owner said you never know what someone may be going through.

“We had one lady this morning who went to tears because her parents live in Florida and were hit by Milton and she’s been patiently awaiting phone calls and it’s been a rough time for her so to make her day just a little brighter, why not?” said Darlene Alfieri, owner of Floral Expressions by Darlene.

This is the second year that Darlene has participated in this and she said she plans to continue to do this as long as she can.
