Another local nonprofit hosted a comedy show Thursday night to give back to a group of people in the community.

The Independent Council on Aging hosted its 14th annual “Comic Relief for Caregivers” event at the Zem Zem Shrine Club.

The event gives at-home caregivers a break from their jobs. Caregivers enjoyed several performers, raffles, appetizers and a cash bar.

An event organizer said Thursday night’s comedy event acts as a “thank you” for caregivers.

“Caregiving is such hard work, so we always put on this event to invite the caregivers in Erie to come out, have a good time, it’s free, laugh, hang out, and just have fun and take a break from that hard work of caregiving,” said Dina Scribner, Independent Council on Aging’s vice president.

The Independent Council on Aging will host their free senior luncheon on Valentine’s Day for seniors in the community to enjoy lunch and live music.
