Double Fire: Evacuations ordered due to fire near Brownsville in Yuba County
YUBA COUNTY, Calif. — People in part of Yuba County have been ordered to evacuate as the Double Fire burns in Brownsville. According to the CAL FIRE Nevada Yuba Placer Unit (NEU), it’s about 10 acres in size and the fire is holding within retardant lines. They say the terrain is difficult and air resources are making retardant drops over the fire.
Fire in Brownsville leads to evacuation order
An evacuation order was given Thursday afternoon for those living in the area of the Double Fire in Brownsville, Yuba County officials said. According to the Yuba County Office of Emergency Services, the Double Fire, which was located at Double Eagle Way in Brownsville near Ponderosa Way, had grown to about 3-4 acres when Cal Fire aircraft were already at the scene. The public was advised at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday to avoid the area if possible.
