Palm Springs Council Votes to Relocate Forever Marilyn Statue
The Palm Springs City Council has decided to move the Forever Marilyn statue from its current location on Museum Way to the Palm Springs Downtown Park. This decision, made during a closed-door session, is expected to be finalized within the next 30 days. The Committee to Relocate the Marilyn Statue expressed support for the move and hopes to resolve remaining issues with the city without further litigation.
‘Military Days’ At The Tram
During the entire month of July 2024, all U.S. military personnel with valid military identification—active, former, and retired—receive free admission to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, along with a special gift for “Military Days.” Spouses of deployed military members, as well as military widows and widowers, also qualify for the promotion. Military personnel are encouraged to bring friends and family and receive 25% off regular Tram admission for up to four guests.
Laguna Beach woman says viral video doesn't capture whole story
A heated confrontation was caught on video between a homeowner in Laguna Beach and a family that was sitting on the sand in front of her home.The incident, which was captured in a now viral video, happened last week on Victoria Beach near the trail stairs.In the footage, the woman is seen yelling at the family and using a spool of rope to section off her property.The homeowner told Eyewitness News that she asked the group to leave once the beach closed. She claims she was being antagonized before being recorded.The family claims they were never on her property. Eyewitness News reached out to the family involved, but they declined to comment.According to the California Coastal Commission, all beaches are public up to the high tide line.

Palm Springs hit 120°F on Thursday, the fourth time this year. The forecast for Friday night includes clear skies and lows of 83°F in Palm Springs and 86°F in Indio. Temperatures will range from 110°F to 114°F on Saturday with dry air moving in. Sunday will see slightly cooler temperatures, with highs from 107°F to 111°F and gusty winds in some areas. The heat is expected to return by midweek.
Police searching for man who recorded woman inside Target changing room in Buena Park
Police are searching for a man who was allegedly seen recording a woman using a Target changing room in Orange County last week. It happened last Friday, July 19 at around 10:40 a.m., when a woman who was trying on clothes in the dressing room noticed that someone had reached under the door and was recording her with a cell phone, according to a release from the Buena Park Police Department. "The victim confronted the suspect and chased him as he ran from the store," the statement said. He was able to flee from the scene in what they described as a small blue SUV, similar to a Honda CR-V. The suspect is described as a man in his late 40s who stands around 6-feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has short, black/gray hair and was wearing a gray t-shirt, black athletic pants and glasses. Anyone who is able to identify the man or who knows more is asked to contact detectives at (714) 562-3968.
As Council formally opposes Promenade sign, its owner threatens legal action
The City Council has again denounced a sign on the Third Street Promenade that criticizes local leaders over drug use and crime in the city. Property owner John Alle has installed a series of banners on his storefront over the past two years. The banners have consistently blamed drug use for problems in the city but have increasingly targeted specific individuals including the City Manager and Councilmembers over a needle distribution program operated by the County’s health department.
