Bolles graduate Ryan Murphy took home an medal for the third consecutive Olympics, winning bronze in the 100-backstroke on Monday in Paris. Murphy finished in 52.39, finishing behind Italy’s Thomas Ceccon (52.0) and China’s Xu Jiayu (52.32). It was the seventh medal of Murphy’s stellar career. He was behind Jiayu after the first 50 meters in 25.04 before Ceccon stormed back in the final 50 for the win.
Man Arrested After Hours-Long Standoff in Brunswick Home
A man is under arrest after a standoff on Leslie Lane in Brunswick, which began on the night of Sunday, July 28, and extended into the early morning hours of Monday, July 29. The incident started just after 6:30 p.m. when Glynn County Police responded to a call about an intoxicated male, later identified as Christopher Geisser, who was reportedly attempting suicide. Geisser was in possession of a rifle and had fired a shot through a bedroom window from inside the home. It was also reported that two women were inside the home, and one might have been held hostage.
