Reopening Went Swimmingly at Maine State Aquarium
As of today, June 26th, 2024, the Maine State Aquarium is back in business after a 4-year hiatus thanks to the pandemic. The state took advantage of the aquarium's forced closure and delayed reopening further for renovations and improvements to the popular and educational tourist stop that originally opened in 1993 in Booth Bay Harbor.
3 Rescued in 2 Days in Acadia National Park
Rescue personnel in Acadia National Park have been kept busy this week, with three separate rescues-- one on Monday and then twin rescues on Tuesday, June 26. On Monday, June 24, a 24-year-old male was rock climbing near the South Bubble trail and slid/fell about 50 feet. The National Park Service and Mount Desert Island Search and Rescue (MDI SAR) responded. They performed a high-angle rescue with a litter to evacuate the individual. The individual walked off the trail with rangers and denied an ambulance. He self-transported to the hospital.
