Enforcement of Louisiana's Ten Commandment classroom requirement put on pause
Louisiana's new law requiring all public school classrooms display the Ten Commandments will not be publicly enforced or endorsed in any way until November 15, 2024, according to a new court filing in the ongoing legal battle over the policy. Both parties agreed that the Ten Commandments will not be posted in any public school classroom and defendants -- including the state's Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education -- and schools will not publicly move forward on the law's implementation until November. Lester Duhe, a spokesperson for the Louisiana Attorney General's office, clarified that the defendants "agreed not to take public-facing compliance measures" until then because it will give time for "briefing, oral arguments and a decision" ahead of the January 2025 date in which schools have to have the Ten Commandments. The January requirement still stands pending the outcome of the suit.

And while it's true that some parts of our state lie lower than others, it's also true that no matter where you live in Louisiana over the next couple of days heavy rainfall is going to be a concern for you.
Low pay is driving away Louisiana's early childhood education teachers, survey says
While Louisiana has made progress in expanding early childhood education for thousands of children, most workers still don't earn a living wage, according to a recent survey. New Orleans, however, is tackling some of the problem through local taxpayer money — a major source of funding for early education that's helped standardize the minimum wage for teachers.

LSU coach Brian Kelly to face 2 former assistants in 2024
Brian Kelly has coached for a long time. He’s seen plenty of assistants come and go, with some going on to be head coaches. Two of those names include Mike Elko and Clark Lea. Both worked under Kelly as defensive coordinator and both are now SEC head coaches. Kelly will get to face both in 2024, with both appearing on LSU’s schedule. Kelly was asked about facing Mike Elko earlier this week at SEC Media Days. Kelly said Elko is a smart football coach who will play to Texas A&M’s strengths in all three phases of the game. “I think that’s why Mike’s...

Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold eagerly anticipates potential epic prime time game at LSU in November
LSU is notoriously known for producing one of, if not the best atmospheres in college football. The hostile environment inside Tiger Stadium with more than 100,000 rambunctious fans makes it extremely difficult for opponents — especially in prime time games. Despite this, Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold is most eager for the challenge as the Sooners make their SEC debut in 2024.
