Zanesville Community Theatre presenting 'The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical'

ZANESVILLE − "The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical" debuted off-Broadway in 2014 and debuted on Broadway in 2019. It's based on the 2005 novel for young adults of the same name by Rick Riordan. Both follow Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy who discovers he's a demigod and goes on a quest to find Zeus' missing lightning bolt and prevent a war between the Greek gods.

It will be presented by the Zanesville Community Theatre at 7 p.m. July 19, 20, 21, 27 and 28 and 2:30 p.m. July 21 and 28 at the theater, 940 Findley Ave.

The cast features Remus Buckliew as Percy, Madeline Gantzer as Annabeth, Brayden Grubb as Grover/Mr. D, Luc Scott as Luke/Ares, Jayden Hendershott as Clarisse, Elizabeth Bennett as Sally, Haley Shaw as Mrs. Dodds, Colin Dygert as Chiron/Poseidon and Julia Gantzer as Charon/Silena/Oracle. Cady Hendershott and Iyanna Kelson play campers.

Cary Stotts is the director with Jillian Von Gunten as assistant director and choreographer, Sheryl Wise as music director and Amy Underwood as producer.
