    Ohio State University Alumni Club of Muskingum County presents scholarships and awards

    ZANESVILLE − The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Muskingum County will have its annual full membership meeting and recognition event at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at VFW Post 1058, 1318 Putnam Ave.

    The meeting will include special recognition of 19 students receiving scholarships from the club for the current academic year. Nine are current students at Ohio State and 10 are entering freshmen.

    Coen Fink of Maysville High School is the top ranked freshmen and will receive $1,600. All other scholarsips are $1,000. Other entering freshmen are Kaycie Wilson, Sarah Gardinsky and Aleea Musselman of John Glenn; Kaijah Minor and Makenzie Mathers of Maysville; Kassidy Jones and Kaylie Osborne of Zanesville; Gael Oseguera of Tri-Valley; and home-schooler Elizabeth Alice.

    Current students receiving scholarships are Emma Conkle, Olivia Baldwin and Michael Roach of Zanesville; Marley Labishak, Brady Jacobs and Ava Marguerite Moore of Tri-Valley; Molly Beetem of John Glenn; Cassie Bunting of Maysville; and Grace Rana of West Muskingum.

    The meeting will include the presentation of the OSUACMC Outstanding Alumnus Award to Dr. Douglas Myers and Outstanding Friend of OSUACMC Award to Brenda Larrick.

    Myers is a 1976 graduate of Tri-Valley High School who obtained a bachelor's degree in zoology from OSU in 1980. He completed his doctorate in medicine at OSU in 1984. He completed a family practice residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital of Columbus from 1984 to 1987 and opened a private practice in 1987 in Zanesville. He has been a member of the local alumni club since its inception in 1988 and was on the board of governors for 34 years.

    Larrick is a graduate of Ohio University and started working for WHIZ Radio in March 2000. She is the program director for radio properties for Marquee Broadcasting. Larrick has supported a variety of local organizations over the years, including OSUACMC. She has helped to promote club events and projects.
