ZEBULON — During an emergency meeting held June 4, the Zebulon Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to appoint Taiwo Jaiyeoba as interim town manager.

Jaiyeoba, who recently served as the principal consultant for City Development Advisors in Greensboro, will begin his appointment immediately. The announcement follows Town Manager Joe Moore’s resignation during the Board of Commissioners’ regularly scheduled meeting on June 3.

“The town of Zebulon is honored to have Taiwo Jaiyeoba serve as our interim town manager and lead Zebulon through this critical transitionary period,” said Mayor Glenn York. “Manager Moore helped guide Zebulon through unprecedented growth and change in our community, and we’re grateful for the nearly nine years of service he dedicated to our town.

“As we start the search for our next town manager, we’re confident in Interim Manager Jaiyeoba and his ability to navigate Zebulon’s key initiatives in the interim — the (fiscal year 2025) budget and the needs of our community. We welcome the experience, vision and insight of Interim Manager Jaiyeoba and are excited to work together for the people of Zebulon.”

Jaiyeoba brings a wealth of professional experience and accomplishments to the role, having served as Greensboro’s city manager from February 2022 to earlier this year. Zebulon leaders credit him with overseeing an $800 million budget, implementing pay increases for Greensboro police officers and all employees and fostering strong relationships with businesses, stakeholders and citizens.

Prior to his time in the Triad, Jaiyeoba served as director of planning and assistant city manager for the city of Charlotte.

“As I lead Zebulon during this transition, my priorities center on passing the FY’ 25 budget, maintaining employee morale and ensuring we’re making this a smooth and seamless process together,” said Jaiyeoba. “I will work diligently with the Board of Commissioners and town staff to develop a budget that meets the needs of the Zebulon community and gives a strong start to the new fiscal year. Zebulon is a special place with a rich history and bright future, and I’m grateful to this town for letting me be a part of it.”

Jaiyeoba was appointed to serve through July 1, at his request, with the Board of Commissioners able to extend his contract as needed.
