31st Street Beach To Close At 9 PM For Next 10 Days After Recent Violence
BRONZEVILLE — The Park District will close 31st Street Beach at 9 p.m. beginning Thursday as it tries to prevent more violence after another shooting there. The earlier curfew was proposed by Ald. Lamont Robinson (4th) in response to recent violence at the beach that has left three people dead, including a couple gunned down June 21 after an argument in a parking lot near the beach.
Artisan Market sets up shop on North Shore
An estimated 6,000 people attended the first North Shore Artisan Market at Village Green Park in Northbrook on June 22-23. Nearly 100 booth holders, the majority of them artisans and small businesses, had tents and tables set up along winding pathways under heritage oak trees in the park. The weather was partly sunny at 85 degrees when the event opened June 22.
