Fourth of July Message from the Village of Hillside
As we approach the July 4th holiday to celebrate Independence Day, our hopes are that you and your family are in good health and spirits. Celebrating the holiday with family and friends is a treasured moment and our goal is to keep you, your guests, and your neighbors safe throughout the 4th of July holiday. It is with this in mind that I must remind you that Village Ordinance, as well as the State Law, prohibits certain types of fireworks. Fireworks that perform a report (firing a lighted display into the air) or explosion are illegal within the State of Illinois and the Village of Hillside. The Hillside Police Department will be enforcing both regulations over the Holiday weekend to keep all individuals and properties safe within our community. If found in possession of fireworks, or if there is any presence of evidence from detonated fireworks visible on your property, fines will be issued and can range in the amount of $250-$750 per offense. Should any individual be found in possession of any class 3 fireworks, they may be subjected to a felony arrest. Our intent is not to preclude celebrations of family and friends, but to do so in a safe and respectful manner with those around us and our neighbors. We wish you all a happy and safe holiday weekend as you join in long awaited reunions.
