    Weather alert: Severe storms including isolated tornadoes and damaging hail coming Tuesday

    Severe weather is in the forecast.

    The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms are possible across northern Ohio on Tuesday.

    The storms are expected Tuesday afternoon into the evening.

    The Akron area is on the boundary of the marginal and slight risk for severe weather on Tuesday.

    "Damaging wind gusts to 70 mph, large hail up to golf ball-sized, and tornadoes possible, particularly in the Enhanced Risk area," the weather service says.

    The enhanced risk area includes Columbus.

    The weather service there's also a risk for heavy rain with the storms on Tuesday and some local flooding is possible.

    The storms will clear out on Wednesday before a risk of rain returns through the weekend.

    What's the forecast?

    Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Northeast wind around 7 mph.

    Tuesday night: A slight chance of showers before 1 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 53. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

    Tuesday: A chance of showers, mainly after noon. Increasing clouds, with a high near 78. East wind 6 to 9 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

    Tuesday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. West wind 8 to 18 mph.

    Wednesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Thursday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

    Thursday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

    Friday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 61. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

    Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 45.

    Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

    Saturday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

    Sunday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
