NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Nine people including several firefighters were injured after a fire broke out and swept through a row of homes in Brooklyn Monday night.

The flames broke out after 10:30 p.m. at 2411 Dean St. in Ocean Hill and quickly spread to several surrounding homes, prompting about 200 firefighters to respond to the scene of the four-alarm fire.

"Upon arrival, we encountered heavy fire in all three floors of this building with rapid extension to four adjoining structures," FDNY Chief Kevin Woods said.

According to the FDNY, the roof of the first building to catch fire collapsed into the top floor as firefighters battled to keep the flames from spreading.

Three civilians and six firefighters were injured in the blaze, fire officials said. Over 30 people were also displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
