NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A human corpse was found stuffed into a suitcase in a wooded area on Long Island earlier this week, and police arrested a man in Manhattan on Friday afternoon in relation to the concealment of the body, police said.

An investigation by the Suffolk County Homicide Squad and MTA Police led to the arrest of Ronald Schroeder, 31, at Penn Station at 1:55 p.m. Friday.

He is charged with concealment of a human corpse, a class E felony, in the case of 31-year-old Seikeya Jones , an undomiciled woman whose remains were discovered in a thicket near 320 Nassau Rd. on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 3. A resident was drawn to a foul odor, and came upon the luggage with a foot sticking out of it, police and witnesses said.

Schroeder was also charged with an active bench warrant by Suffolk County police, and criminal possession of a controlled substance by the MTAPD.

Following his arraignment on Saturday in Central Islip, the district attorney's office listed the three additional charges as third-, fourth- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class B, C and D felonies, respectively.

The district attorney's office said that Schroeder is being represented by the Legal Aid Society, and that the judge remanded him with no bail nor bond. His next court date is Sept. 12.

Jones’ cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Homicide Squad detectives at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
