Clark, Fever Excited to Return to Action on Friday

INDIANAPOLIS –It’s been nearly a month since the Indiana Fever have played a regular season game because of the Olympic break, but that’s all about to change when they resume play this Friday night.

“I know they call it the second half of the season, but really there are only 14 games left. So these will really make a difference for us and we need to make a playoff push,” said Fever guard Caitlin Clark at practice on Tuesday.

Clark is coming off an appearance where she was the starting point guard for Team WNBA in the 2024 All-Star Game, the seventh rookie in WNBA history to be named to the starting line-up, and the third Fever rookie after Tamika Catchings (2002) and Aliyah Boston (2023). She has the most assists by a rookie in a single game (19) and the first triple-double by a rookie.

It’s been an Olympic break for Clark that has included a trip to Yankee Stadium, the Indiana State Fair, and more. Now she’s ready to get back to the task at hand.

“This prep has been really good, but you just get to this point where you’re like, ‘Ok let’s just get going and finish these last 14 games.’ I think that’s kind of where we’re at,” said Clark.

The Fever’s record is 11-15, but they have the 7th best record in the WNBA. That spot has them in the playoffs at this juncture.

The Fever resume play against the Phoenix Mercury (13-12) on Friday night at 7:30. Then they face the Seattle Storm (17-8) on Sunday at 3:30 pm.
