Former Colts Offensive Lineman Accused of Urinating on Passenger During Flight

BOSTON, MA .–A former Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman is accused of urinating on another passenger while on a Delta Air Lines flight Sunday.

Cherilus, 40, was arraigned Monday in East Boston District Court. The charges against him are disorderly conduct and disturbing a flight crew. He was released on $2,500 bail.

Police say they were called to Logan Airport in Boston around 2 am Sunday after Delta flight 154 from Boston to Dublin, Ireland was returned to the airport. They say he was “irate and uncooperative” after he was told to leave the plane, so he was placed under arrest.

In the police report, it says Cherilus argued with the flight crew about his seat and urinated on an elderly passenger about an hour into the flight. They also say he hit another passenger and took that person’s seat before passing out.

In a social media post on Monday, Cherilus issued an apology.

“I’d like to address the media reports about me that surfaced today regarding a situation that occurred onboard a flight to Ireland this past weekend. The flight was unexpectedly delayed for approximately four hours, and it did not take off until after 12:30 am. In preparation for the unexpected overnight flight, I took a sleeping medication that I don’t normally use, which resulted in behavior that is not representative of my character, and I would like to apologize the passengers and flight crew.”

Delta also said they have “zero tolerance for unlawful behavior” and also apologized to their customers for the delay in their travel.

Cherilus was signed by the Colts to a five-year, $35 million deal on March 12, 2013, but was released by the team on July 26, 2015. Cherilus also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions.
