On Saturday, September 7 from 10am - 6pm, the 10th annual Doc Holliday Festival and BBQ Championship will take place at Griffin City Park in Griffin. Admission to the festival is FREE.

Griffin-Spalding is known as the home to John Henry "Doc" Holliday, the legendary gunslinger. Holliday grew up in Griffin and later returned after dental school before heading west to Texas.

Explore the birthplace and dental office of "Doc" Holliday and attend this popular annual event. The Doc Holliday Festival includes Shootout at the O.K. Corral reenactments, local vendors, family-friendly entertainment, and more.

The Doc Holliday BBQ Championship is a Georgia BBQ Association event. During this part of the festivities, chefs compete for a portion of the $13,000 total payout. Contestants prepare their best pork loin, pulled pork, or pork rib. Contests for brisket, steak, wings, and desserts will also be held.

No tickets are needed and there is no cost to attend the festival. Free public parking is available in the parking deck on Solomon Street.

If you're interested in learning more about Doc Holliday, you can take a self-guided tour of the places Doc Holliday knew as a young man, when Griffin was a prosperous cotton town.
