Potential for two round of thunderstorms
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Today is a First Alert Weather Impact Day for the potential of two rounds of thunderstorms. The first round will roll through early this morning between 6 AM and 10 AM mostly southeast of Kansas City, but a shower or thunderstorm is possible across the metro between 7 AM and 9 AM. The remainder of the day will be mostly sunny and storm free with the exception of a second round of storms that may develop in the vicinity of Clinton and Warsaw across central Missouri. between 4 PM and 7 PM. If this second round of storm does develop, large hail, damaging wind or a tornado will be possible. The remainder of the work week will feature a mix of sun and clouds, highs in the lower 70s and a brisk north breeze. Sunny Saturday. High 75. Slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm on Sunday. High 78. Several slight chances of showers and thunderstorms next week with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Kita Bee, a Black transgender woman, was killed on May 3 in a hit-and-run in Kansas City. She was 46 years old. According to the Kansas City Star, at about 9:20 that night, officers responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian in East Kansas City’s Independence Plaza neighborhood. Police said that a silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck struck Bee and fled the scene, although the driver of the truck later returned to the scene of the crash. At the time of writing, the driver has not been located. Captain Jacob Becchina, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), told the outlet that they believe a second vehicle may have also struck Bee and fled the scene.
