Students at Columbia University will be learning remotely on Monday because of continuing protests on campus.

"These tensions have been explored and amplified by individuals who are not affiliated with Columbia who have come to campus to pursue their own agendas," University President Dr. Minouche Shafik said in a statement.

The school has increased security on campus and a rabbi associated with Columbia has told Jewish students to go home for their own safety. Pro-Palestinian protesters have been demonstrating for days and have even put up tents on the lawn.

"Rest assured, the NYPD will not hesitate to arrest anyone who is found to be breaking the law," Mayor Eric Adams said.
