City Hall is planning to address migrant encampments that have sprung up on Randall's Island, following a series of violent incidents.

"We are continuing to work very closely with the entire team that's out at Randall's Island, and the issue of the encampments will be addressed," Chief of Staff to the Mayor Camille Joseph Varlack said.

Some migrants forced out of shelters because of limits have set up these encampments. Two porta potties have also been set up in the area, leading some to wonder if the encampments were being sanctioned by the city.

"Porta potties should never be an indicator that we're accepting any form of encampments, but I'm a big hygiene person, and it doesn't matter if it's used by someone who's sleeping on a park bench or someone who's walking by. I don't want people using our streets as toilet facilities," Mayor Adams said.
