The MTA is speaking out in support about a congestion pricing plan compromise that may be in the works.

"To me it's good news that the governor continues to focus on these issues and express her intentions to resolve them timely," MTA Chairman Janno Lieber said.

It's been reported that Governor Kathy Hochul is considering a plan that would lower the proposed $15 toll to travel south of 60th Street, while also providing exemptions to municipal workers. Congestion pricing was scheduled to begin in June before it was put on hold by the governor. She argued it would place to harsh of a burden on New Yorkers.

While congestion pricing was unpopular with drivers, its absence has also been met with protests. Advocates say it would have generated $1 billion a year in revenue for the MTA that the agency needs to make infrastructure repairs and improvements.
