    Decomposed human remains found in desert near Las Vegas

    LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Human remains were found Friday in an “advanced state of decomposition” in the desert near Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

    At around 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, police responded to reports of human remains found near Lake Mead Boulevard and Pabco Road. Arriving officers found a man in what they called an “advanced state of decomposition.”

    Police said that an autopsy was performed on the man on Aug. 10 and showed that the victim had suffered gunshot wounds to the head.

    LVMPD homicide investigators have taken over the case.

    The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released
    by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
