Could Montana Watermelons Become Biodegradable Plastics?
Let's face it. With Montana's shorter growing seasons, watermelons are not exactly in our wheelhouse. But it can be and is being done. And maybe with the help of some high-tech horticulture happenings these days, there could be a little added incentive to do the Watermelon Crawl (thank you, country singer Tracy Byrd).
Underwater Treasure Hunter Explores Montana’s Nimrod Hot Spring
It is a hidden gem that only us locals know about. Im talking about the Nimrod Hot Spring on I-90 near Bearmouth. For most driving along I-90, they see what appears to be a stagnant pond, or green puddle on the side of the interstate highway. But, upon closer inspection, you will find a hidden oasis. Including it very own cave/grotto.

This Is How Curious Montanans Are About AI Compared to Other States
Do you talk about AI with your colleagues, friends, or family?. Montana, historically, is a late adopter of many trends, but the internet has been a bit of an equalizer. In the conversations I've had about AI, I know people who use it, but most of what I hear is that people don't like it, think it needs more regulation, or they don't know how they feel about it.

The Missoula Montana Airport expanded its services to Oakland and Orange County on a seasonal service last month bringing its destination total to 14. California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Minnesota and more states are covered, but obviously you can't get everywhere you need to go. Someday Missoula will expand further after...
Drink Less This Summer in Montana and You Won’t Get Eaten Alive
MAN, AM I ITCHY. I navigated my way through a couple of swarms of mosquitoes over the weekend. I am surprised I am alive to tell the story. It is the time of year we spend the most amount of time outside. Unfortunately, nature's biggest killer also enjoys summer days.

Open Letter To Missoula Marathon Volunteers: Thank You
The 2024 Missoula Marathon was a fantastic event, per usual. The weather was great, the racers ran hard and I had never felt more accomplished than when I conquered the Half Marathon. Note: It was not a speedy 13.1 for yours truly. A bathroom stop and a sore foot hampered...
Things in Missoula That Would Surprise Any European
I lived in Ireland for six months and during my stay, I had a greater appreciation of the United States, especially Montana. Also speaking with many different Europeans I have realized that if they did spend six months in Montana they would probably have culture shock so bad they would need to sit down.
Popular TV Network Names Montana’s ‘Most Charming Small Town’
Who better to be the arbiters of charm than the network responsible for giving us "House Hunters", "Love It or List It", or the "Property Brothers"?. Charming may not be the first descriptor to come to mind for places in Montana. Usually, Montana is described as rustic or scenic. But if you take "charming" at face value, something "pleasant, or attractive," Montana's stock in "charm" has been on the rise lately.
Montana Lottery Warns of Scams: Avoid Playing These Numbers
There is something about having a lottery ticket in your pocket that brings you hope. You find yourself thinking about how your life would change if your numbers would just come in. Awesome Setting for New Northwest Montana Public Archery Range
Just across the road from a state park that lies on the shores of one of Montana's jewels, its opening has been officially announced. Yep. The result of a project that's been in the works for a period of time is that archery shooters now have a new range along Flathead Lake. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has completed development of its public archery range at the Big Arm Unit of Flathead Lake State Park. FWP recently hosted a grand opening ceremony with Governor Greg Gianforte, members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Natural Resources Department and Tribal Council, and members of the Dayton Elementary School archery team (more on that shortly).
Time Warp: Missoula’s Blink-and-You-Miss-It Moment in a 2018 Movie
My, how times have changed. I felt like I traveled back in time (like way back) when I watched a movie from 2018 that I'd never seen before and heard a reference to Missoula, Montana. It also seemed like a "pre-pandemic" style mention. It was so innocuous. I'm guessing that...
