Mariners down Padres 8-3

The Padres lost to the Mariners 8-3 on Tuesday night, as Seattle starter Logan Gilbert baffled the Padres' hitters all night long. Gilbert needed just 87 pitches to navigate 7.2 innings. He gave up a solo homer to Jake Cronenworth in the 7th inning and a 2-run homer to Kyle Higashioka in the 8th inning that ultimately ended his night. But those 3 runs were too little too late, as the Padres already trailed 7-0 when Cronenworth put the Padres on the board. The Mariners meanwhile got to Adam Mazur early and often, scoring 5 runs in just 4.2 innings of work, and totaled 13 hits on the evening. Michael King will start Wednesday's matinee for the Padres.
