Washington is obsessed with triathlons – is it any surprise?
Sounds like an average day outdoors in Washington, right? But it's also the format of a popular endurance event: the triathlon. Triathlons are relatively new to human history - at least as a distinct sport. The first modern triathlon (with the swim/bike/run format) was held in San Diego in 1974. It wasn't until 2000 that the triathlon made its debut in the Olympic Games - which means my memory of watching the Olympic Games as a kid is a little wrong.

All-in-One: Huskies continue to reap the rewards of a big recruiting weekend (UPDATED 7/1)
The Washington Huskies may have only picked up verbal commitments from a few visitors during a weekend that saw them host 17 top 2025 prospects, six on offense and 11 on defense, but more commitments came - and there's still a few more to go. There was already one prospect who was verbally committed to Washington, running back Julian McMahan, but that gave plenty of room for the new Washington coaching staff to make their mark on all the other players they were hosting.
Monday Dots: B1G Time
Max’s Friday Dots, you know that today is the official changeover from Max to me as the UWDP Editor. Max told me a few months in advance that he was considering winding down his time as editor and I kept my fingers crossed the whole time that he would change his mind. He is great at the job: he’s passionate, he dives deep, and he comes up with insights that most of us would never consider. He has also done so much work behind the scenes to keep the site growing that I have often been in awe. So while I wish he had come to a different conclusion, I am personally grateful to Max for making UWDP a productive, informative site and a very fun community.
