Report: All DISD Students Will Eat For Free For 2024-2025 School year

According to WFAA All kids in Dallas ISD will get free meals during the 2024–2025 academic year, according to the Food and Child Nutrition Services (FCNS) department.

The school district claims that the CEP permits qualified schools to provide free meals to all pupils, regardless of financial situation.

Under the CEP, families no longer have to submit applications reporting their household income if they want to take advantage of free school meals,” FCNS said in a news release.

FCNS said that kids who can get healthy food tend to do better in school, which means they get better grades, show up more often, and have fewer behavior problems.

There have been free meals at Dallas ISD for a number of years, even before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dallas ISD thinks that the CEP will help them get rid of the negative feelings people have about standard free meal programs at school by feeding all the kids for free.

Dallas ISD said that the CEP gets rid of unnecessary costs and lowers the stigma.
