WATCH: Teen South of Idaho Nearly Struck by Lightning
There is a common phrase that states 'lightning never hits the same place twice,' but what happens when it hits too close to you? It may not take twice to do damage when one strike is all it takes, and perhaps the lightning doesn't even have to directly hit a target to do damage. When hiking during a thunderstorm, being struck by lightning is a common fear. It is known to hit trees, water, and towers most commonly, but sometimes it will directly hit the ground sending waves below our feet. Recently, a group of teenagers hiking had a scary moment when lightning struck near them, and it was all caught on camera.

Idaho Will Bake This Week like Every Summer
You already know what it’s like to burn yourself by touching a hot spot on your car door. And you know enough not to wear shorts on the vinyl seats. Walking across the parking lot at Walmart from a parking space 100 yards from the door is like dancing on a stove. None of these can compete with my most memorable heat experience. I was driving through the desert from Blackfoot and past Idaho National Laboratory. Probably in the summer of 2016. It was hot. There were mirages on the highway and a haze in the sky.
Do You Recall the Great Fudge Attack on Idaho Potatoes?
At first, I thought it was a joke. I saw what I believed was a Facebook meme about potato fudge. That is, topping potatoes with fudge, as you might use sour cream. A short search online offered there was such a thing. A marketing campaign designed to convince parents that kids would eat more healthy potatoes if the tubers were slathered in sweet, sugar-laden goo.
