Another 'Cool Front' Could Be Pushing South Towards Louisiana

As we attempt to survive the summer days in the Deep South, we may soon have more relief on the way.

A few days ago we were blessed with lower humidity levels for a few days and mornings as a Canadian “cool front” pushed south, and another front could reach much of Louisiana by the middle part of the week of August 19, 2024.

While it may still be very warm as the front approaches or sweeps through the area, we could notice and feel much lower humidity levels, which many would welcome towards the end of August.

Since the previous “humidity front” came through, many in the south have been under Heat Advisories each day with heat indices exceeding 105 degrees.

So yes, while this potential front may not drop temperatures very much as we approach the end of the month, we may have more pleasant mornings and evenings as dew points drop with the drier air in the region.

Now to the bad news, if this front stalls along the coast, it could “draw” any tropical developments towards the Gulf Coast. At times these “fronts” can act as a vacuum and suck or draw storms towards us when in the gulf.

In addition to that, we could see storms, some possibly severe, move into the area ahead of this “front” by next week.

The good news, as of now there are no areas of disturbed weather in the immediate forecast for the Gulf of Mexico, but we are approaching the peak of hurricane season.

All in all, don’t take out the jackets just yet, but we are slowly getting towards the end of summer.

One more thing have you noticed the amount of daylight is decreasing by the week? That is a sign Fall isn’t too far out.
