Halifiax authorities report an update

WDBJ7 reports there is an update from the Halifax County Sheriff's Office on a teenage girl reported missing on Wednesday morning. Makinzie Page Shelton, 13, appears to have left alone with only a few personal items.

Deputies have determined she did not take her cell phone or watch when she left. It has now been revealed that investigators conducted a K-9 search and traced the missing teenager's scent to a residence on Cherry Hill Church Road in Cluster Springs, Virginia.

Shelton's scent ended outside the Cluster Springs residence, where investigators believe the missing teen may have obtained a ride, and traveled out of state to Misouri, or Minnesota. Gazette Virginia reports the following:

“Information has been received that she has been seen in surrounding counties and various states,” Clark said in a Thursday release. “However, reporting parties were unable to provide details with a vehicle description, direction of travel, or whom she may be accompanied by.
